This Postpartum Group is a unique support group that combines physical exercise with mental health support for new mothers. The group is designed to address the mental and physical challenges that new mothers often face during the postpartum period, including postpartum depression, anxiety, and physical recovery after childbirth.
The group is facilitated by a mental health advocate, utilizing movement exercises and conversation starters overseen by a licensed mental health therapist and a physical therapist who have experience working with postpartum women. Members of the group may share their personal stories, struggles, and triumphs, while also learning coping skills and strategies for managing their mental health. They will also have access to an exercise program which may include workouts to do at home or at the gym and group walking opportunities.
By participating, new mothers can benefit from both the physical and mental health benefits of exercise, while also receiving support and validation from others who are experiencing similar challenges. The group provides a safe and supportive environment for new mothers to prioritize their physical and mental health, connect with other mothers, and learn valuable skills for managing their mental health during this transformative time in their lives.
